A court dismisses a case if it is without foundation, otherwise it hears a case and makes a judgement on the case beforehand. Sadly you don't believe in their right to even bring a case becasue it is the military. |
The USAF base at Mountain Home has been there for a long, long time (since WW II).
How long have those seven people complaining lived there? Is this just another case of someone buying a home near a source of noise without doing due diligence, then bitching about the noise? |

The rest of your comments are worthless when you begin with twisting the facts. |
gums,
I think military flying, particularly fighter aviation, is a little more self-serving than you're representing there with the a$$ risking comment. What would you have rather done? (These Strike Eagle dudes aren't going to resign 'cause they can't work over Boise. :}) GN, What a trooper, willing to sacrifice other's comfort for your conceptual greater good. What is the national interest? TD, The USAF base at Mountain Home has been there for a long, long time (since WW II). How long have those seven people complaining lived there? Reminds me a bit of the city of Olympia banning the USS Olympia submarine from visiting its port because it's nuclear powered... |

How long have those seven people complaining lived there? Is this just another case of someone buying a home near a source of noise without doing due diligence, then bitching about the noise? With the F-15 not coming below 10,000 I really don't think noise would be an issue. I live one kilometer from the local threshold with F-15, F-16, F-18, Rafael, SU-30, Gripen, MV-22 depending on the time of year, and a panoply of airline, GA and military transports passing by, jet in afterburner interrupts the TV for a short time, but so what, the wife on the other hand, could it not last longer? :E No curfew either, though the fighters don't operate at unreasonable hours, nor an anti airport group campaigning, perhaps the community has memories of having more ordinance dropped on it than Pearl Harbor, and being the gateway for the countries first international flight. |
from TD,
And Mountain Home based aircraft have never flow over Boise before? from the article, plus plain-clothed soldiers on the ground to simulate urban combat If they get the approval, I'd provide coffee for the ninjas. Or beer. Yes, I see now, this is exactly like nuke submarine ops. |
Only slightly off topic: Abandoned & Little-Known Airfields is a wonderful documentation of many, many airfields that used to exist and are no more. I'm amazed at the number of airfields on the San Francisco Peninsula and across the bay, some of which were operational when I moved here. Wanting to shut down airports is an activity with some history. An airport I trained at, the University of Virginia Airport, was objected to because "Mr. Jefferson did not allow for an airport or a school of flight in the University's 1812 charter."

subsequent purchasers just didn't do their homework Me, I'm so blase I only look up to see what is flying if I hear one or more merlin engines (4 is best). |
