Flanker at 10ft
While the Typhoon of the other thread was (allegedly) around the mid stratosphere, seems that this Flanker pilot decided the check whether the speed cameras were working or not.

I believe he had been landing on motorways as practice and this happened.
I'll bet he was breaking the speed limit as well...
I believe that even in Ukraine road signs are removed before (planned) highway strip manoeuvres.
Yes - but not the ones in the undershoot.... skip to about 1:55
Thanks for the video! So the issue was being short, rather than low.
More than that - his left main gear was one side of the barrier and his right was... yikes.
I wonder how the "runway" area was marked, and what visual cues were provided. Were these permanent or temporary markings or a combination thereof? Would the pavement in this area need special reinforcement?
Cheers, Grog |
Looks like they'd closed off the road where it had no central barrier - but he was definitely a bit short............... I've seen a few very straight pieces of road in Russia that have been used for this - no sign of any special strengthening...............
I thought the big dayglo ‘blobs’ marked the start of the intended landing area? i.e. after the lane barrier.
Anyway, as nobody has said it yet ... “A bit early on the round-out, Hoskinski.” |

Was this it?
Looks like the same exercise but not the aircraft that was short with the undercarriage astride the central barrier.

Cheers, Grog The central crash barrier can be lifted out of the road surface and the large roadside signs are on huge hinges. There's another on the A1 about halfway between the intersection and Nicosia. |

Take a look at satellite photos of the A5 motorway in Cyprus just east of the intersection with the A1.

OMG - not much margin for error going over the edge of the bridge if they was a nose wheel steering failure !
