Saudi F-15SA
With all the excitement of new F-15EX being built at moment, wondered over to the Heath last night to see another new batch (3rd or 4th) Boeing F-15SA turn up for RON - delivery from St Louis as I think the first batch of new SA turned up couple of years ago...so here are my photos below.

I heard the rumble as they flew over Gateshead. Typically there was too much cloud to get sight of them.

A buddy of mine was a WSO in a similar F-15E during Desert Storm, the capabilities of the jet back then sounded like a SciFi novel, including a combat emergency requiring the use of Vmax (which trashed both engines) resulting in some highly unlikely Mach numbers, and the ability to re-direct power to boost sensor performance always impressed me as well. Lord knows how much it has matured in 30 years what with add-ons like AESA and the new 229 series engines.
Still an impressive aircraft. |
68 delivered, six left stateside, of which two (possibly three) are unlikely to be delivered, instead remaining stateside for continuing test duties.
Two more F-15S-to-SA conversions (known as F-15SRs) have also been delivered from St Louis, one converted by a Saudi team. The first of 66 more SRs has flown in-Kingdom and about 10 are in work with Alsalam. |
