In January this year I had dinner with a group of people, among whom was someone who had quite a bit of first hand knowledge about signals intelligence and electronic warfare.
While not giving away anything he shouldn't, this person said the average punter doesn't really appreciate how much jamming capability the Chinese have. As the author speculates, I suspect this jet is testing technologies to be used in environments where positioning, navigation and timing are completely denied. Probably B-21 related. |

I want to say the 757 mods make it look ugly, but in a weird F-4 kind of way, I like the look.

IIRC way back Fairey Surveys operated a DC-3 out of White Waltham that was used to "pre-test" early versions of various camera and recce systems for the boys at Farnborough and Boscombe - that apparently had all sorts of strange cut-outs and holes.
