Looks like a lightweight composite fairing was hit.
|
Exactly. New fairing panel please and clean up surrounding area.

Big white bird?
Could be in trouble if it is one of the Queen's swans. But then it is Her aircraft. |
But then it is Her aircraft |
Was the bird carrying a cow at the time??

I'm wondering how it hit the side and still caused a substantial amount of damage
|
Strange things happen during an animal/aircraft interface. I saw the aftermath of a C-130 running over a Porcupine on the runway in a hot and sandy place. Although very dead, the animal was mostly intact. The Herc had an u/c door torn off!

'scuse my ignorance, but is that a pet door just a few inches north west of the strike?
|
It certainly looks like a cat flap....:p
|
Yup! The cat is needed to keep the birds away

Spain at that time of year, Vultures, Eagles etc, any one of those will give you a problem if it hits.
