Day trip to Minsk
A nice Sunday outing for C130J ZH889 / RRR5606
Flew over our abode in East-Angular and I wondered if it was heading to a Baltic NATO country. as it continued traight across Poland and into Belarus ! Txpdr feed stopped as it appeared to be turning final for Minsk Airport. Flight Radar 24 reports it as being on the ground at Minsk. Not a place I'd willingly defect to, so I assume Her Maj's Gubmint had a good purpose. Standing by for howls of anguish as we declare 'bead window'. |
They go lots of places.
Got to be honest I am far more intrigued by the strange words - "Gubmint", where does that originate from? |
The term "gubmint"... I found it in use among some colonial brethren. Light hearted vernacular innit.
I wondered if the flight was connected with all this virus hysteria. Perhaps some sort of mutual aid or a medevac. |
There are RM on exercise in Belarus. It was due to end around about now.

Aha! I'm a convert.

Had the pleasure of doing a JACIG trip to Minsk many years ago. The military hotel we stayed in for 3 nights was a joy...

OK I appreciate this was end of an exercise BUT could we see lots of military personnel that are abroad being pulled back to UK on a "just in case they are needed" basis over next month or so ?
