Craft Beers and Veterans
 

I ran across this a few minutes ago and immediately had to add this Brewery to my list of "Must Visit" places here in my home State of North Carolina.

Old Armor is in the town of Kannapolis just north of Charlotte.....and is just getting going. Some of their tables have old Huey Helicopter Main Rotor Blades as a bit of enhanced ambiance. The names of their Beers are interesting and the "Pay It Forward Board" is a really nice concept.

In the town of Winston-Salem there is a Bar called "Kelly Days" that started a few years back by a married couple who were Captains on the local Fire Department who I rode motorcycles with on Veteran Rides.

Their Bar caters to First Responders and Veterans and is filled with memorabilia from fire departments, police departments, individual officers and others

There is a RAF Flight Suit nametape bearing the name of "Foo" on it.

We like to support our Police Officers, Fire Fighters, EMS Staff, and of course our Military and Veterans of all the services.

At Kelly's, Brass Name Plates are added to the Chair Backs upon the on-duty loss of a First Responder or local Military Member which is a nice touch.

Brilliant concept. For us teetotalers (don't laugh) how's about am alcohol-free one called "Rookie"?

Up in Maine i have a brewery open up in what used to be NAS Brunswick.
It uses the building that was previously the 25 pistol range, called Flight Deck Brewing and one beer is called P3.

Colorado Springs, near KCOS the city airport/Peterson AFB, boasts a restaurant inside a parked KC-97.

Herod.....in our parlance....."No Load" would be a better name for such a concoction!

There's a "spit and sawdust" pub near where my partner lives (one of very few such pubs these days) that serves a light ale called Proper Job on draught at just below room temperature. The landlord is ex Army and gives 10% discount to Veterans. Personally I can't think of a more enjoyable evening, drinking an exceptionally good pint among like minded people with similar senses of humour, no red velvet booths or pretence and never a hint of trouble.

Thanks for that heads-up. We're going to be in C Springs this weekend, maybe I can convince the wife we need to try it.

When I was in London several years ago (business trip), I stopped at a pub for dinner - they had a special edition beer called "Hell's Highway", commemorating Operation Market Garden.
I don't recall what style beer it was (it's been maybe 10 years), but it was pretty good - I had more than one :cool:

I was in Colorado Springs in September and had a great meal at a Cuban restaurant called Cucuru - terrific, achingly cool music, drinks and food. It's at 2332 W Colorado Avenue. Give it a try.

A couple of pilots from Lossiemouth have created and seem to be making a success of Windswept Brewery

Having had the good fortune to visit the Tap room I think they're doing a pretty good job.

We stopped at that restaurant in Colo Springs - it's named "The Airplane Restaurant". The food was quite good and my wife liked the food and the ambience.
Unfortunately I couldn't sample any libations - we were driving up into the mountains to Breckenridge after lunch and it was snowing in the mountains...
