TG1 12 Month ET Waiting Time

Well after 23 years I have finally reached the point I am thinking of moving on to pastures new.

However the 12 Month waiting time for departure could be looking to cause me an issue or 2!

Do any of you fine folk know of cases were the refusal of the line manager to release you early has been fought?

I've not heard of anyone being held to the minimum waiting time in years!

Your boss must be a c*nt.

It's not unusual even these days: my son came out of the Royal Navy last year, after having to wait for 12 months. He used the time to network with potential employers, with success. And he doesn't abuse his ex-boss, either.

Isn't it up to PMC (or whatever they are called nowadays) to make the decision regarding whether you can leave or not and the period of waiting time before release? It certainly was when I PVR'd - but that was a very long time ago...

Policy pretty much is that currently, if local management agree, you can walk out the door pretty much as you choose. Certainly everywhere i've been in the last decade has allowed people to go if they have a job lined up, but then I've worked for some decent and enlightened folk.

Plus who want to keep disaffected staff?

There’s a pretty good solicitor in Lincoln I hear. He’s not cheap, but he’s looking to make a name and he understands the system. PM me if you want me to chase his name.
