B757 Technology test bed
I saw today that G-BYAW was ferried to Lasham to be reconfigured for use as a technology testbed for the RAF. Who will be operating it in its new career?

QinetiQ or BAE Systems. |

I thought Lasham Gliding Society owned the airfield.

2Excel are a tenant of Lasham Gliding Society; LGS owns Lasham Airfield.

Still registered to TUI AIRWAYS LTD

It was one of original Britannia Airways 75s.

And Marshall Aerospace did not get the contract.....

Anyone know how many hours are on the airframe. I flew it when it was brand new at least 25 years ago. |
G-INFO shows 86749 as at 24/9/2019 delivered new 1995 - must admit thought it was earlier than that. |
What’s it going to do? |
DH,
Read the link that MG posted above. In short, systems/sensor testbed for Tempest and future Typhoon/F-35 upgrades. The US have had equivalent test bed aircraft for years to support F22/F35 development... |
Thanks. That sounds fun - do they need 757 pilots?! |
