Not easy, not easy at all....................
Problem is when you fly a very capable long endurance platform for decades your whole outlook has been built around it - even if you don't realise it and finding a "replacement" becomes very tough - think B-52......... It takes something special to suddenly change , for example, to a 737, to do the job. |
Memory says there was a proposal for a MR Tu204 variant at one point - could see that replacing IL38, but suspect the replacement for a Bear will be another Bear

We replaced May with a Johnson...

pr00ne, who's this 'we', Kemo Sabe?
(But yes, a johnson in the American sense!) |
BEagle,
Good point, I should have said "they" and a very small 'they' at that... |
A more amusing thread than the caption competition.
Been up close to both, but a loooonnngg time ago |
Wasn't the Foxtrot variant well regarded back in the day.
|
That was the Foxtrot Oscar variant'.
|
New ASW systems, modern Turbo Prop engines....well proven airframe.....seems a decent choice.
