GW -1 decorative artwork
Learned contributors, Does anyone have photos to share of the decorative art work applied to Coalition aircraft during that conflict? I believe the Victor tankers did and some Tornados, what else was adorned? Thanks for your time and trouble, Be lucky David |

This book has a good selection of colour photographs of unofficial artwork.

CH-53 with nude girls part of paint scheme Walk Around Maybe not quite what you’re looking for..... Today someone’s head would roll for something like this. |
I believe there ended up being two TIALD pods in theatre for use with the Tornado GR1. They were christened Sandra and Tracey after the Viz characters 'The Fat Slags'.
One of the pods is on the GR1 resident in AirSpace at IWM Duxford adorned with one of the said ladies. |
The Victor tankers were probably the best known examples of this. Six were done by Cpl Andy Price (55 Squadron), each named after the wife/girlfriend of the aircraft's crew chief. Lusty Lindy and Teasin' Tina both survive, at Bruntingthorpe and the Yorkshire Air Museum respectively. Lots of pictures here

Buccs and Jags had some good nose art. None of them beat the Shark Mouths on the Tornados, in my mind.
There were a couple of Navy Lynx with 'nose art' as well, I think. |

Sadly, in the present PC climate, I doubt that that sort of art would be permitted in case it offended someone. Hurt feelings being far more important than killing people... |

Bhahrain Sqns led the field in all the Artwork to be quite honest. |

You’re joking, of course? They were very poorly done and really rather crude.

Yes, you’re quite right, along with the Jag Force, whose art was fairly subtle. I was, myopically, referring to the Tornado Force. Must be all the recent coverage making me forget! |
