WSOp recruitment

Morning everybody,

What is the outlook for WSOp recruitment on the rotary fleet?

I have been offered WSO but I want to do something more physically demanding.

If if I expressed an interest to go rotary, is there demand for a 27 year old, fresh blooded WSOp? Or would I likely be pushed towards the sensor side (irritating as I could have done this as a WSO)?

Useful thread here? Best wishes. TO

You should definitely consider the sensor side. You won’t like the rotary life.

Hotel or tent - difficult choice :E

I expect you didn't see the answer you wanted last time this was asked, so we're here again.

We mostly advised the other guy to take WSO over WSOp that time.

The ISTAR fleets are in a (5 year?) growth period, 24 Poseidon crews and up to 100 Reaper/Protector crews are required. Shadow fleet is increasing and RJ needs more crews.

Where do you think most new WSOp's will end up?

I certainly enjoyed the rotary life! Best 25 years of my life ☺️

camelspyder,

"Where do you think most new WSOp's will end up?"

On the 76 Chinooks, 22 Atlas, 14 Voyager, 14 Hercules, 8 Globemaster or 23 Pumas?

He could always ask the horses mouth instead of us arses on here.

Roffa, try calling Cranwell, ask for 45 Sqn WSOp Training Office and enquire about their planned output for the next few years.

How dare you offer pertinent advice in a manner totally bereft of sarcasm or insult? I have informed the Internet Police and I hope they take you to task with many lines of pixels shaped into words and in a BOLD font.

Harrummph etc

Thank you for all your advice, I’ve taken the plunge with WSO.

All the best, WoR

Pr00ne, is there not a difference between replacement crews on an existing fleet and new crews on an expanding one?

pr00ne 26th Mar 2019 20:06

Pontius Navigator,

Fair point, though I suppose it rather depends which fleet(s) have been the better at retention?

The ISTAR lot don't exactly have large fleet numbers, though they do of course have larger crews.
