Lockheed's F-21 reveal: marketing or masterstroke?

Lockheed Martin surprised everyone at the Aero India show near Bengaluru by launching its F-21 fighter in pursuit of a 110-unit opportunity with the nation’s air force.
Boeing offers India futuristic Super Hornet factory

Boeing has promoted its industrial capabilities in India, as it eyes potential deals to sell the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet to the nation's air force and navy.

Speaking at the Aero India show near Bengaluru on 21 February, company officials said it would build a “factory of the future” in India to produce the Super Hornet. New Delhi has two separate requirements for combat aircraft: 110 for the air force and 57 for the navy.

Wasn’t the Kfir designated the F-21 when used as AdAir by the USN/USMC?

Boeing plans trials of its Super Hornet jets on ski-jump ramp to meet Indian requirements:

US Defence major Boeing is planning trials of its F/A-18 Block III Super Hornet aircraft on ski-jump ramp to prove its ability as the company eyes the multi billion-dollar deal of the Indian Navy for 57 fighter jets.

“Testing plans are underway. We will rigorously check our aircraft on ski jump,” said Thom Breckenridge, Vice-President, International Sales (Strike, Surveillance and Mobility) at Boeing Defence, Space and Security, at the DefExpo 2020, which is being held in Lucknow.

Refusing to get into any specific timeline, Breckenridge said that the aircraft will fulfill the Indian requirements and they are in discussion with the Indian Navy for the trials.......

Can't remember which way round but there were F-21s and F-21As - I think the F-21s didn't have canards and were USMC?

They were all Kfir C1s with very narrow span canards and strakes either side of the nose. Twelve were leased to the USN and 13 to the Marines with the designation F-21A Lion.

F-16's - Depends what they want them for - and they could probably build a lot of them in India - numbers count and the "F-21" would be able to out perform the Pakistan AF. Against China -? Maybe not but then you also need numbers as well as a top end capability. TBH I can't see a major war against China - maybe the odd border spat but there is no evidence that China is really going to invade - if they were interested in NE India they'd have stayed put in '62.

Glad I didn’t imagine it!
