Just a heads up that the tickets are now on sale if you want to see this once in a life time spectacle, details are here, just a heads up, not involved but know some were interested.

Booked my tickets for the Wednesday, Your pictures will be better than mine. Hope to get on board a couple

It will, of course, be a fantastic spectacle. Interestingly if all 38 DC3/C-47 make it to DZ N, that will be 11 more than were scheduled to fly to DZ N on 6 Jun 44. Pity that the 91 Stirlings, 26 Albemarles, 34 Hamilcars and 184 Horsas can't be represented in kind.

To the crews, paras and spectators, have a great day out.

BATCO,

Thanks for posting that fascinating link. While browsing it, I came across the best double-barreled name I have ever seen:

I just had to look him up and discovered this remarkable description of D-Day and the subsequent few days:

Lieutenant-Colonel Geoffrey Pine-Coffin

Known to his men as Wooden Box! :)

Thanks, my pleasure. While browsing the link I hope you noticed the presence of 1 (Canadian) Parachute Bn in the Orbat for 6 (UK) Abn Div.

Can anyone give me a steer on what the actual DZ(s) will be on 5th June? I have already booked my ferries and a campsite near Ranville for 3rd - 8th June and I am planning to visit Duxford on 2nd June.

Off Flypasts thread

Hi all, I’m one of the jumpers for the event, the mass practice jump is taking place at Duxford and landing aircraft and jumpers back at Duxford.
there are no civvies jumping in France on the 6th due to security and various heads of states flying about it with be serving military only.
the chutes we use are steerable mainly MC-1 b-c and SF10 types.
