Norwich Tornado!
 

Wow! We've just had a Tornado blast down the Runway at Norwich - such a noise that it reminds me of how few we've seen here in the last few years despite them being so close down the A47!

Had something similar [when the previous Tornado force commander (squared) was retiring I was led to believe.

Grey, dark claggy day, airstrip just of the 47, when two swept wing dealers of death materialised from out the soup and broke hard "into the circuit" kept the wings swept and into full burner over the tree tops and disappeared into the gloom.

:mad: oorah as the cousins would say.

Lucky thing. Nothing quite like that deep rumbling crackling roar.
Makes me feel quite sad that after March next year that sound will be just a memory, at least for the UK.

I notice that what seems to be the majority of Typhoon takeoffs are in dry which although still impressive is not as exciting as in reheat.

Slight digression but sticking with Typhoon, on youtube there are several night takeoffs in dry but you can easily see the heat glow from the two EJ200 engines. Really interesting to see how hot the exhaust gases are.
