Wing Commander Gerry Honey OBE
Sad to report that Gerry Honey, former CFI at Old Buckenham Aero Club and ex Gnat, Hunter and Harriers amongst many others passed away at the weekend. He’d not been well for a while but will certainly be missed by many at Old Buckenham. I’m not too familiar with his service career, other than he started his flying career in 1955 in Canada, one of his later postings was as OC Ops at Wittering and took over from the then Group Captain Peter Squire in The Falklands. |
A great guy, We flew together when he came through RFS, prior to taking over as OC OPS, Wittering. He once left me a tough L.L. navex to do on SCT. He had planned meticulously, such that there was no fuel to check the recce points a second time. The Last - briefed as an underground storage site, was------- a cemetery!

First time we met I was cross-examining him! Flew with him many times after that. Blue Skies Gerry.

New Gerry very well in Hunter days. Blue Skies, RIP

There is a memorial service for him at Kenninghall Church on 9th August at 1430. He has already had a family, private funeral. |
