Speaking of UFOs.......remember a few decades ago there were very regular and frequent sightings of UFOs. Now that everyone has a camera in their pocket those sightings have all but disappeared. I guess the little green men are camera shy.

chevvron 18th Dec 2017 17:11

Simply proves that when Project Blue Book was wound up,(late '60s?) the workings still continued underground as many of us suspected.

CONSO 20th Dec 2017 20:26

FWIW - tonight dec 19- on fox news- tucker carlson - will have the pilot ( cmdr david frayor ) who ' made' - saw that video shown in NYT and a dozen other places.

That would be 8 pm EST in U S of A

Might be worth watching and listening- check your local stations- typically repeated 3 hours later.

I once...'knew' :E a USAF major who worked at one of the USAF's less well-known offices near Sacramento. We kept up our friendship, then she was reassigned to the 'Foreign Technology Division' at Wright-Patt.

"You mean the people who take flying saucers apart?", I wrote to her.

But I never heard from her again.....:hmm:

Possible explanation of why the UFO appears to be rotating. See links in the description.

PersonFromPorlock 21st Dec 2017 17:26

I am a little curious about the lighter area around the IR image of the 'target'; anyone care to hazard a guess as to what it is? It looks like a really bad job of pasting an image in, but I think we can discount that given all the corroborating testimony. Is it possibly something that's normal for that system in that mode?

George K Lee 22nd Dec 2017 11:10

Foreign Technology Division analyzed Soviet stuff. They got it right now and again.

slfie 25th Dec 2017 10:32

Ok, so the blob in the middle of the screen - and its rotation - can be easily explained as a FLIR artifact in the HUD. What other evidence is there? Well, the audio track is very convincing - and it must be true because I heard it myself on the internet!

Surely no-one would be so mean as to take a video showing a bit of a glint and dub some made-up audio onto it...not just before Christmas, when there's plenty of people with time of their hands to make it go viral.

According to the Telegraph:-

>Luis Elizondo told the newspaper of the sightings, “In my opinion, if this was a court of law, we have reached the point of ‘beyond reasonable doubt.’”

That would be Luis Elizonzdo of tothestarsacademy.com; they do 'Electrogravitic Propulsion' and 'Beamed Energy Launch Systems' and 'Inspirational Storytelling' and ...

EricsLad 25th Dec 2017 15:50

It can't be 5th gen - it showed on radar.

I agree that some of the things proposed by To The Stars are way outside of what I'm prepared to accept. That said, is difficult to dismiss what David Fravor has be saying given his service record and that he was commanding the squadron at the time.

This article has some additional information and explains that another scrambled aircraft took the video after David's encounter.

Some interesting quotes from the Boston Globe article:

“It was impressive. It was fast. It was maneuverable, and I’d really like to fly it,”

“What’s unique about [our encounter] is we physically interacted and chased it,” he said. “We literally engaged it.”

There are a couple of threads running on Metabunk on this

In case you are unfamiliar Metabunk is like Snopes on steroids.

Oh apparently I can't post a URL as I haven't posted enough. OK.... site rules I suppose.... Go to Metabunk dot org forums and it will be in the hot links on the right. It is a great site - also full of pilots as it started as an anti chemtrail conspiracy site.

An update and a document in this article by Tyler Rogoway. As always, a futile struggle to clean up the formatting in the new PPRuNe user interface.

Detailed Official Report On Harrowing Encounter Between F/A-18s and UFO Surfaces

The paper recounts a course of bizarre events that occurred near the USS Nimitz while it was sailing off the Baja Peninsula in November 2004.

BY TYLER ROGOWAY MAY 22, 2018
Even though the 2004 encounter between an unidentified flying object nicknamed the 'Tic Tac' and U.S. Navy Hornets made headline news last Winter via its associated with a secretive Pentagon program to investigate UFO encounters, and possibly much more, the story had been talked about in detail among military aviation circles for years. But now we have an official report that came out of the aforementioned Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP) that makes a number of conclusions based on its findings. Above all else, it offers far more granular detail about the now historic incident than what had previously been released. The document comes to us via George Knapp's intrepid I-Team, which is part of Las Vegas CBS affiliate Channel 8's Newsroom. You can and should read it in its entirety by clicking here. Knapp's team explains how they obtained the document in their article, stating:
"Earlier this year, we made a whirlwind trip to Washington for a debriefing arranged by former Senator Harry Reid. While in D.C., the I-Team obtained copies of unclassified documents related to the UFO encounters, including the Tic Tac. The analysis was compiled in 2009 with input from multiple agencies. It confirms the Nimitz group had several interactions with AAV's, Anomalous Aerial Vehicles."
The 13-page report isn't dated and lacks a cover sheet, but it provides a rich recounting of the encounter, with a clear accounting of the assets and sensors involved, and how the Navy handled the incident administratively in its aftermath. The supercarrier USS Nimitz, the Ticonderoga class cruiser USS Princeton, E-2C Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft, and F/A-18C Hornets and F/A-18F Super Hornets were all involved with the incident. Other ships that were also part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group were also likely involved but to a lesser degree.

But maybe what's most important is that it really wasn't just an incident, the report states that the objects were detected over six days, from November 10 to the November 16th, 2004. Intermittent radar detection of a number of objects near the strike group as it plowed the waters off of the Baja Peninsula showed fantastic agility. They dropped from 60,000 feet down to just above the water in a number of seconds and hovered there before zooming off "high velocities and turn rates."

There is quite some skepticism concerning "AATIP program" on the Net (URL which I tried to copy was rejected by this engine).

This stuff does seem weird to me as well. Harry Reid's fingerprints are all over the program and the release and provenance of documents and videos is convoluted to say the least.

A couple of analyses from 'journalists':
