I think the Lieutenant's ring usually points astern, unless he is seated or lying prone.

Good old Thornton's.

Glad to say that the (original) factory wall I pointed in 1975 stayed up until they decided to pull the whole lot down and move to a different town.

My other half had a summer job, packing Thornton's chocolates on a "one for you, one for me" basis. For a day or two, until the chocolate poisoning set in....
