No point in tasking, all the sonobouy tubes and bomb bay will be full of Harry Gows best pies. Hope they managed to eat themselves down to a safe landing weight :ok:

A quick observation. Eating the rations does not reduce the ac AUW. It merely moves the mass into the crew bodies. In time, the mass will be further redistributed to the Elsan. Matter cannot be created or destroyed - The Law of conservation of Mass

A quick observation Olddog, it was said tongue in cheek.

Old dog - it can do if you’re depressurised and the 2nd dry poos out the sono launcher!

Think of it instead as an extended acceptance test of the microwave which can now be cleared iaw the latest MAA Regulatory Article.

If you think about similarities to the Wedgetail this might even contribute to an accelerated clearance for the P7 :8

Party Animal. Could be disatrous depending on the venturi effect at the launcher exit. A good cure for constipation?

The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale of five Boeing P-8A maritime patrol aircraft to Germany for an estimated cost of $1.77 billion.

End of Franco-German MPA/MAWS programme?

The P-8 was listed as one of the options in the Bundestag briefing paper leaked last year. I assume this means German interest is real and that they have given up on the A320neo based Franco-German MAWS, The Naval News website reported that at the French defence procurement agency's annual press conference in last October implied it was on track:

the director of the DGA confirmed that the first feasibility studies of the Maritime Airborne Warfare System will be launched within a few weeks. MAWS is intended to replace the French and German MPA aircrafts(sic). The first studies will focus on the mission and combat system.

I suppose it would be possible if totally illogical to fit different mission and combat systems in to the P-8 airframe (not unheard of in these parts on other aircraft types:rolleyes:). I suppose Berlin could be using this to put pressure on their French partners?

ORAC started a thread on the subject of the briefing paper last July.

The link in the comment above yours indicates that the Germans are going with the standard P-8 fit out on mission system and sensors as part of their FMS case

My apologies for my lack of clarity.

I was focusing on the discrepancy between the US DASC's “Germany plans to replace it with the P-8A Poseidon. The proposed sale will allow Germany to modernise and sustain its maritime surveillance aircraft capability for the next 30 years.” and (less than six months earlier) the French DSG's "We are going to initiate the first feasibility study. We decided with our German partner to start with the study of the mission system. This study will be entrusted in the coming weeks to the manufacturers corresponding to this phase of the program, namely Thales for France, and Hensoldt, ESG [Elektroniksystem] and Diehl for Germany.” I can’t imagine the feasibility study has already concluded it’s unfeasible.

I also can't imagine the French being very happy if the German's go with the P-8 as they were, in public at least, expecting a joint European designed and built programme. The German decision not to extend the OSD of their P-3's to the 2030's always appeared to have condemned the joint programme, especially if the Germans went for a purchase and not a lease of an interim replacement. To me the question is, what effect this will have on French faith in other joint programmes? EFA/Rafale anyone?

Yes it can, by conversion to energy.

Or are you suggestion that isn’t an option with MPA aircrew? :=
