PanAm A320 Type Rating

Probably not the right forum for this but I'm scared of talking to those scary civvies so here goes:
I'm looking to get a Type Rating to activate my full EASA ATPL prior to emigrating to Aus, avoiding having to do the full CASA ATPL.

I've found threads on the 3 week PanAm A320 course in Miami from 2011 but anyone heard anything more recently about this? Prices, pass rate etc?

If not no worries I'll contact them and see what they've got to say!

Thanks!

Have you already contacted Tiger Air in Melbourne? You could get an EASA A320 type rating from them (their TRI/E is dual CASA/EASA licenced I believe), then convert to CASA. You might also get a job offer out of it too.

Do you have to go to the expense of a jet rating? I know that I obtained my UK ATPL (albeit a couple of decades ago!) with a Piper Aztec rating. Might have changed though.

Anyone know if 130J operators will get an unfrozen once LM qualify the new l100j to FAR25?

Yep. Tiger are looking for A320 FO's.

Thanks, Tiger might be a good option to look into.
Effectively, CASA don't recognise the "CPL frozen ATPL" element of the EASA system so if you don't have a Type Rating then you just go over with a CPL and have to complete 12 more exams to qualify for a CASA ATPL.
To avoid this, a Type Rating to activate the "Full" ATPL means just Air Law exams are required to cross over to a CASA Licence. If the Type Rating was cost effective, it could mean getting a job months sooner (and not revising for more ATPL exams!)
