Canberra Boys
Is it only me?
I have virtually all the "Boys" series, enjoyed the lot, found a host of names, places and incidents to remind me of my miss-spent youth, but I am struggling to get on with Canberra Boys. Is it layout, content, typeface, style or what? Certainly not the aircraft themselves, a superb creation, deservedly long-serving. Perhaps just me? |
Must say I struggled with the writing style of Andrew Brookes. Interesting content but hard to read.

A hard book to produce, with so many variants and so many roles to cover.

Nobody asked me, and I did two tours :)

On what variants, with which Squadrons, Sharpend?

As originally designed, the PR.9 nose looked just like the B(I)8 nose, with a glazed nosecone and a side door. No ejection seat for navigator - he was expected to escape through the door. Nose was later redesigned to incoporate a lightweight ejection seat for the navigator and hinged opening. He was not expected to escape. |
