1st March 2018 will be the 50th anniversary of No 93 Entry graduating from the RAF College :D. It is planned to hold a suitable event to commemorate the occasion and we are trying to contact all of the entry. If you were on "93" and have not been contacted, please PM me.

This'll be 'the elite that went before' as we graduated in June 1986 - missed the party again

MPN11 13th Jan 2017 14:03

It would help if they stopped re-numbering Courses all the time. I was on 172 IOT in '65 :)

[Not at Cranwell, of course, but Sunny Feltwell]

brakedwell 13th Jan 2017 21:20

When did the three year course end?

aw ditor 14th Jan 2017 08:12

Can't say when it ended but, it started in 1954 with 69'. April 54 to April 57'.

brakedwell 14th Jan 2017 08:16

Thanks. I was at Swinderby from November 1956 to August 1957 when we used to bump into Cranwellians in the Saracens Head in Lincoln

BEagle 14th Jan 2017 10:07

brakedwell asked:

When did the three year course end?
90 Entry was the last of the 3 year courses; the 2½ year courses began with 91 Entry in October 1964 and ended with the graduation of 101 Entry in March 1973.

The first Graduate Entry was 1GE in September 1970, so for a brief period the Flt Cdt and GE schemes ran in parallel.

But in 1978-9 came the Henlow :yuk: merger - and the RAF College 'went comprehensive' in the eyes of many...:hmm:

Reunion

[great idea for a reunion but lets create a designated website

Bigpants 21st Oct 2017 16:36

I was on 39 IOT in about 1980 does that count? It feels like 50 years ago....

[email protected] 21st Oct 2017 20:50

And I was on 60 IOT in early 82 so how does that numbering thing work again?

Wander00 22nd Oct 2017 13:16

I thought my first IOT course as a flt cdr was 57 ("B" Sqn) in Jan 83

camelspyyder 22nd Oct 2017 13:41

57 IOT started 36 years ago on 18 Oct 81.

Wander00 22nd Oct 2017 15:31

So maybe it was 67 I was with.. long time ago

Victor1a 26th Jan 2018 10:59

Those we are still trying to locate

With just over a month to go to our reunion there are 2 members of the Entry that we have not been able to locate. They are:

Pete (PE) Dobbs an Engineering Officer
Adrian (AJ) Evans GD/Nav

If any one has any information on either of them that may help us locate them please PM me.

Thanks

I was there too Bigpants but I’m sure that was 1979. But then memory, eyesight etc are all fading now.

You youngsters have nothing to worry about.....yet. Now where is my zimmer

Blacksheep 26th Jan 2018 15:15

Some of our 105th Entry at Halton went off to Cranwell when we graduated in August 1966. I imagine they would have been around the 93rd Entry there.

We are not buying that Wander00, we all know you do the run up to the top of Dune du Pilat, with a backpack full of sand, at least twice a week.

Wander00 26th Jan 2018 19:00

Just don't tell Mrs W.......

Re #11.

Adrian Evans (Drain) was originally on 92C. Last heard of in mid 90's in the Calne area of Wiltshire. I was trying to get in touch with him then but didn't succeed in tracking him down.

Good luck

Brian 48nav 27th Jan 2018 08:57

If Adrian Evans ended up on the Herc best to try 24,30 and 47 Sqn Associations.

Victor1a 27th Jan 2018 12:05

nipva and Brian 48Nav

Thanks for your help. We have tried the Herc Associations to no avail, but will keep working on the Herc lead, which is the best we have

Victor1a 27th Jan 2018 12:14

93 Entry started in Oct 65 so I suspect your friends were on 95 Entry. I seem to remember that ours was the first entry to have engineers on it, as a start of the transition of Engineer training from Henlow to Cranwell. The rest of the Henlow entries moved up a little later.

I had great admiration for the ex apprentices, having got to the top of their courses they then started again at the bottom and went through all bull etc that went with Cranwell. They were a great help to us novices, teaching us the tricks of bulling boots, ironing uniforms etc. Happy days

Victor1a 27th Jan 2018 16:29

Thanks to the help from 2 TWU we have now located Peter Dobbs, so we are now only looking for Adrian Evans
