RE Strapon.....Very Sorry! SAR do a fantastic job...
A big sorry to those guys who took offence to my last post. In no way do i think what the SAR guys/Girls do is in the least bit "stupid" it was a cheap attempt at a flipant remark in order to gain favour through, admittedly poor humour.
Its a fair point that i came across as a total arse but following flying scholarship and UAS i thought this sort of "banter" would be ok. Fair enough it wasnt. As for asking about operational "add ons" in a public forum the sqd ldr at my screening interview suggested i try this angle. Ill obviously try another one. Once again , if my foot does in fact get firmly stuck in my mouth whilst out at sea, ill by more than happy to to see that big "stupid yellow helicopter" maybe i should apply for dope on a rope instead of pilot. Sorry again.:o |
Well, good on you. I expect you have just scored a few brownie points. But do remember not to ask questions that may be, shall we say, delicate!
Best sometimes just to watch and to see. But a tip, if you can't find an answer in the public domain - don't ask for it at all. Good luck. PPRuNe Pop |
Not that I fly missions over Iraq but if I did I'd make sure a clean pair of pants were nearby!
|
Don’t worry; you’re fast jet through and through.
 |
are you stupid
are you stupid? as youve had a flying scholarship and uas i guess you arent, but "dope on a rope"!!! i guess your again trying a bit of banter, but if i were you i wouldnt go anywhere near an sar wichman. you may be interested to know that they actually work on civvy ambulances as part of their course. i used to love meeting iot cadets and student pilots like you!
|
Oh come on canberra. Contrite is contrite, and surely you don't want to knock him over by cynicism. I mean, 'dope on a rope'! What's that all about? And judging by your latter remarks you don't take too kindly to young uns trying to make their way. So how did you do it?
You ought to show a little encouragement not just slap him down as a 'cadet' or whatever. |
TP,
Isn't this all about showing a little respect for anyone doing a worthwhile job? I think the point is that no matter what your education or background you have a part to play and some more than others. |
|
Blimey! steady on lads! i was trying to say sorry, not start another argument. I respect any job regardless of it being fast jet pilot or road sweeper, they all have merits. I guess i didnt count on people being so touchy. Take it in the spirit it was meant.
Canberra - No i am not stupid, and guess i am looking in the wrong place for encouragment. Agreed my initial post was misplaced, but the dope on a rope comment was told to me by a sar pilot himself- i didnt realise the RAF had gone that PC. Id rather ask daft questions and learn form the answers and my mistakes than not find out for myself at all. |
Skyflash,
Don't worry about the dope on the rope remark, it was actually used by a SAR winchman on this very board before he moved to pastures new; be sure that banter is alive and well if a little vitriolic at times on this forum |
Skyflash,
Don't worry, In my experience of aircrew training everyone says something to upset A N Other at some point. The ones who get through are the ones who know when to hold their hand up and say sorry, there's the line. Well done for having the B@lls to apologise. Learn and move on. |
didn't see the original post, but i'm a dope on a rope & don't object to the term at all...
in the world of banter, to give it you've got to be able to take it n'est ce que pas? :D |
