Dave "Snoopy" Noon Argosy Pilot
Just received notice that Dave passed away suddenly a week ago last Friday. There is going to be a service on Wednesday 20th July, 11am at Grantham Crematorium, refreshments afterwards at The Queens Head, Kirkby La Thorpe. He nearly didn't apply to be a pilot as one of his masters at school told him he lacked the private income. He applied anyway. He was a co-pilot on Argosys at Benson on 267 Sqn 64-67, and I knew him when he was a captain, and then training captain, on 114 Sqn. In 1972 he left the Argosy force and went to Central Flying School at little Rissington and became a QFI on the JP. Subsequently he went off to the world of civil aviation.
I have also posted the info on the Ardet site. |
Sad news indeed; I first met Dave Noon at South Cerney in 1960 and then we served on the Argosy with 267 Sqn etc. Another nice guy gone.

Wasn't he on LXX (Hercs) in the late 70s?

A Dave Noon was my instructor on the C130 OCU 81-82

Nice guy.
Last flew with Dave 12 June 1969. Gave me most of the flying. RIP. I didn't know his nickname was 'Snoopy'. The only 'Snoopy' I knew was Geoff Baron - (Snoopy and The Red Baron) |
Served with Dave on HCS in early 80s, yep a really nice guy and very competent pilot instructor.
RIP Dave |
I was a Herc Sim Console operator 79 to 81 and worked with Dave. I also had a few overseas trips with him including one where we broke at Dulles and stayed the night there instead of Andrews. He was a lovely man and a very good instructor. RIP Dave.
