Italy's new Air Force One - A340-500
https://theaviationist.com/2016/06/3...air-force-one/
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...psvk7qw3j5.jpg As the article states, the airframe is leased by Etihad Airways , am wondering if I or anyone else on here may have flown on that airframe years ago to Abu Dhabi ---, cheers |
How nice.
Shame UK can't afford one. Still, an occasional Royal trip in a Voyager, when t's not doing freight or tanking, will have to do. |
I thought E*h*a* is not to be mentioned in this fora.
Plus I seem to remember that Italian Air Force had one A340 but they did not have the crew to fly. Has that change now? |
the world is your oyster in that baby :ok:

Just a minor point. Air Force One is the designation used when the US President is flying aboard a USAF aircraft like the VC-25. It the President were to fly aboard a USMC MV-22, the aircraft designation would be Marine One.
The aircraft used to transport the US President are military aircraft, and not leased civilian aircraft. So describing this leased A340-500 commercial jet as "Italy's Air Force One" is not really correct. |
Great insight there riff raff. Not one single person on this thread was aware of that.

Since it has a civilian registration - more catchy I-TALY and using the US system equivalent should be "Executive One". |
Riff Raff, time to get a girlfriend :D
