St Athan to partially become an Aston Martin plant
I wonder which part they will use, one assumes the runway etc will remain as there are aircraft maintenance companies already in place.
Ahh it's to be in the super hangar, isn't that full of Hercs? Aston Martin creates 750 jobs in St Athan - BBC News |
The hangars that are to be used are currently holding MOD Depot stock (and 5 Hercs that have been there at least a couple of years).

Oh, NutLoose, I expected better of you! St Athan in the singular, pleeeeeze!!!
|
St Aston.
The real issue here is the car, so indescribably ugly I want to pour bleach in my eyes to reduce the pain. |
Dog of an Aston though. Designed with young American women in mind? I despair.

Yes, but Moira hasn't served there has she, unlike the OP :ugh:

You'd think that if they were going to build a car at St Athan they would have designed it with aviating rock stars in mind ... |
"The design team had in mind a driver who was a young woman, American - and rich. The fictitious customer was dubbed Charlotte and seen as "an attractive lady, cool, in her 30s"."
Isn't that a bit stupid to market the car and immediately exclude half the potential buyers? I can see it now, any bloke who buys this is immediately going to get the "oh you've got a Charlotte. That's nice." |
Would that many young rich American women want an Aston Martin though? And it really is not their design team's finest moment, looking at pictures of it.

Man, thats uglier than a herc
|
Oh my god, that car is so ugly, no wonder they want to keep that one separate away from all the others in Gaydon, fear of cross fertilisation no doubt
|
And tragically reminds me of that classic old Not The Nine O'clock News sketch, "Failed in Wales". Does not bode well
Their only chance of success is if they can land Daniel Craig driving the wheels off it in the next Bond movie. And keep the macbine guns and other gizmos on the production model! |
Ohhhhhh boo, I apologise for my error and will fall on my leek in penance.
Btw I just missed out on buying the previous Bond buggy http://www.topgear.com/car-news/brit...ust-sold-ps24m |
Wasn't the Gilbern made in Wales?
|
|
Looking at the new car and the Bond version, they are building the wrong one, the Bond one had style and a presence, while the new one just seems to miss the mark on the front end and appears to ride very high, looking at some shots you would think it was a four by four. They would have probably sold hundreds of the DB10 based on the film alone.
|
NL - I thought that the model to be built at St Athan was to be a cross-over - a sort of AM Qashqai
|
Ahh so that's motor speak for yuk.
