WW2 Control Tower
Seem to recall a bomber command poem mentioning 'My Friend Silksheen' seems a good a name as any

That's a pretty substantial tower and of a non-standard design. Obviously it was built to house more than just 'flying control' but what I wonder?

That's a pretty substantial tower and of a non-standard design. Obviously it was built to house more than just 'flying control' but what I wonder? What is known is that it was of local design and built in three stages, what the extra offices were used for remains a mystery, the obvious choice would be Operations but Wigsley had a separate Operations block. The real anoraks have a thread running on the tower, which includes plans etc here :- Wigsley A name? If the Pig farm is still up and running and smelly as ever :- "Smellsville" Because it will. |
How about 'Piggy-Wigsley' for a name, hope there's a few gas masks left around the place, you'll need them.
Funnily enough, the estate agent doesn't have photos like these on the listing: https://www.flickr.com/photos/92108785@N07/17017048008/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/92108785@N07/16584648533 Taken in April this year! |
