Looks like the nose gear won't fully extend. Hopefully the crew can work something out otherwise it may be a nose gear collapse on landing. :(

Per their FB page she will ferry gear down direct Doncaster tomorrow for hangar input and gear swings.

She did a cracking display at Ayr this afternoon.......It woukd have been a shame to come to grief at the end of her life. Glad things got sorted and she landed after a short delay.:ok:

I watched and listened to the whole event, it was superb professionalism from everyone involved, the ATC Controller, Vulcan Crew, "Battle 1" and the other display teams already airborne and keeping out of the way, and even changing callsigns so as to avoid confusion.

It does annoy me though when you see the headline "Vulcan in Emergency Landing at Prestwick", as far as I,m concerned it was a normal landing at a location they were planned to land at, that is after sorting out an issue with the nose leg of the aircraft using an approved procedure.

The nice aerodynamic landing made for some very nice shots as well guys, thanks.:D

NDB, one procedure was to 'bounce' on the mains hoping to shock the geometric lock if it was not locked or get the wheels to unlatch the doors.

Why yaw? I don't know exactly what was wrong, but that nose leg is long and a yaw motion will generate a fair moment on the leg and locks.

What did surprise me, from the video, was that there was no visual inspection once clear the active. I would have been out and installed the nose wheel lock as soon as possible.
