Does "I have a dream" sound right?

Not sure if this is the right forum........but?

The 'old place' may have life in it yet.

London flights bid for ex-RAF base Church Fenton - BBC News

Not to be a naysayer; I wish the new owner well.

But why would you drive to an airfield rather than take the train and be in Central London in 2 hrs from Leeds or York? Unless of course they can make it cheaper than the train. Which doesn't seem likely to me.

I regularly take the train from KGX to Grantham when in the UK. It is cheap, quick and comfortable. Leeds is a bit further north, but not much by train. I sure as hell wouldn't take the Underground/DLR or whatever to LCY and pay more to fly.

I just don't see the business case, unless you live within 20 minutes of CF and your office is close to LCY.

A few years ago my daughter did a flight from Newcastle to Bristol, the return flight was peanuts compared with the train. Maybe there are other routes that will be attractive.

He must see some potential there. Chris Makin is an extremely successful businessman, he's no fool. Makin's are literally piling money into that place. Having served there in its final (how many has CF had?) throes and been to visit a few times since, I can tell you he's really spruced the place up. I miss CF, I'm glad an enthusiast has bought the place and the hardcore won't be broken up and shipped to some road project. Enthusiast or not I guarantee Mr Makin will be looking to make a profit and he seems to be pretty savvy at that.

Yes, absolutely:

It's door-to-door time which matters to business travellers, rather than merely price. So if you have to waste 30 min getting touched up by pig-ignorant, bottom-fondling failed wheel-clampers at 'security' whilst waiting to fly, the train would definitely be preferable!

The road system would certainly need upgrading to handle the traffic! Although close to the A1/A64, the few miles from these roads to the airfield is on very small B roads which travel through several small villages. (Not to mention the regular flooding from the Rivers Ouse and Wharfe). Can't see it myself, unless air traffic is restricted to a small commuter or so per day.

Indeed so PN. I used to fly occasionally from Cardiff to London City for meetings in London.

Cheaper than the train - but I was at Saints at the time.

And the service has since folded..... :(
