The Man of the Year 2015.

HRH Prince Charles. For his conduct today, and also me reading the content of the recent so called expose of his letters to HM Government ministers...I commend him for MOTY..anyway outstanding dignified conduct, physically brave (today especially in the Republic) and for being intelligent and caring about Britain.
And this from me a dyed in the wool Labour supporter, and sometime republican thinker about it.
Mind you his younger son is running him a close second on this award(a chip off the old block and a fine man).
Not putting myself forward for a knighthood or an OBN or summat, just how I saw it today in the meejah.

I'll second that, always found him a top bloke and definitely not faint-hearted.

Absolutely, I found his intervention in diverting funds meant to pay for clinically-proven treatment for sick people, into energy crystals, particularly worthy of praise.

OK, as you ask. My vote goes to HRH Prince Charles. Without doubt.

Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade, but given that many supporters of the British monarchy point out their role as ambassadors and public servants for the UK couldn't it be argued that "he's just doing his job"? And no, given the personal circumstances, I don't for one second think it can have been in anyway an easy thing for the man to do.

Anyhoo ... on a lighter note, seems a jurno from The Washington Post may have been sampling the hospitality along our west coast earlier today and failed to proof read their submission ....

The now updated version of the story on the WP site carries the following

Correction: An earlier version of this story transposed the names of Prince Charles and Gerry Adams. This version has been corrected.
Prince Charles to 'reconcile' IRA and Britain - The Washington Post

Just as well, as he pointed out in a speech earlier today, HRH enjoys a good joke.

:)

Personally (and I suspect for the majority on our little island) I hope symbolism of the handshake along with the later meeting between Charles & Gerry, and the wider visit further the healing process for all those affected by the actions of the protagonists on all sides in the conflict and go some way to strengthen the still on going process of building bridges, consolidating the peace process and normalising the society "up north".

Are you talking about Charles meeting Adams, or Adams meeting Charles?

The former, but now that you mention it, I suppose it could quite equally have applied to both.

Methinks that the Guardian wanting his letters made public has rather backfired upon the Guardian.

RHP,

Think your right, looks like the Prince has recieved support that the Media were not expecting. The Monarchy in recent years has seen more support from the public than some people anticipated.
