F-16 landed with missing outboard wing following collision
Didn't hear about this event at the time but the report is referenced here:
Near-disaster: This F-16 landed after half its wing was sheared off - The Washington Post |
Thankfully at least nobody was seriously hurt. It could have so easily have been catastrophic.

5ft of wing? Paah!! Nothing.....

Impressive, red bull just did the same, here it is chopping off the prop of one and the wing of the other, both landed ok and no computer assistance in flying it.

OK I'll take the bait

Looks like the WSO left the pilot to it..?
|
Leading an Eagle back to Deci, my WSO tells me that the dude's left stabilator is missing. The Eagle driver hadn't noticed anything amiss, apart from his jet "feeling a little squirrelly".

Thank you RP. DOH!
The absence of the second seat easily explained then. |
F-16 computer assistance a bit ( F-18 better for such things ) F-15 nil computer help! The 1983 Negev mid-air collision was an accident in which the right wing of an Israeli Air Force F-15D was sheared off in a mid-air collision. Pilot Ziv Nedivi managed to land the F-15 safely due to the F-15 Eagle's aerodynamic characteristics. |
Hmmm, want to look at post 3 at the top of the page?

So that's two further replies now, repeating what ORAC already posted in reply #3!
