When you look at the list of equipment to be removed prior to the sale there is not much left of any worth, except maybe the engines.
Flyable 125's are getting pretty inexpensive these days.

They will probably be spares recovered, and scrapped if that's anything to go by. A museum for one would be nice as it was a "Royal"

"Museum Pieces" - God that makes me feel old. I was a spotty 4th Year apprentice working at B.Ae Chester when those airframes were delivered in1983.

Nothing could beat the "new plane"smell of leather furnishings etc.

It may be these Dominies will be sold at a price too high for most UK museums.

No replacement planned. When you consider that there will be about 350 hours across the three aircraft between now and the OSD, it would appear that they are kept rather busy for something that won't be replaced. Still, that's what the train is for, I guess.

A friend has suggested the two UOR 146-300s are being brought into core as 'sort of' replacements.

hard to give away as a flyable aircraft - the list price is less than $ 500,000 for a civil one with all the paperwork of that vintage

I was stationed at RAF Northolt (VASS) when these nice shiny new toys were first delivered. Seems like just yesterday...

The Dominie was the HS125 Series 2 fitted with the Viper 301 engine and unique to the RAF.

These are the CC3 which is the HS125 Series 700B (and fitted with the Garret Turbofan). There are a number of significant differences between these and the Dom.

Well that's very cost effective that is, replace a relatively cheap twin biz jet with an ageing four engined airliner.. :ugh:

Do I recall that 32 Sqn disposed of a surplus 146 a while ago? Was that not therefore
a bit of an oversight???

A pair of 146s entered service in 1986, with a third in 1991. This third aircraft was sold in 2002 as it was deemed surplus.

And the two 'new' ones are larger QC freighter/passenger types, bought for use in Afghanistan rather than 'luxury' liners, HM for the use of.

I believe that 32 now only have the use of one Agusta A.109 as well. It would seem that the circle of important people who have access to Northolt Airways gets smaller and smaller.

I can think of at least one Pembroke, an Anson and a couple of Devons that are airworthy... Could be of use the way it's going.

However, it didn't stop us ex-AEOps/Siggies calling them that when they helped out moving some stuff around theatre for us :p
Wasn't long before one of the crew or the old gent contractor groundcrew used to correct us - not sure they ever realised we were doing it on purpose...:E
