The Buccaneer Song.
I know it's here somewhere, I know I can probably find it with a search, but would a Bucc chum be kind enough to post the lyrics?

Those were the days. Singing definitely bonded a squadron and a force. There are quite a few more classics in the 208 Squadron song book which still resides in my office. Merry Christmas

Those were the days indeed. I recall it being delivered expertly by a Fg Off Bucc pilot in Lossie officers mess 1984 ish...and him being awarded an orderly officer duty for doing so by a bad-tempered Sqn Ldr. Either one recognise themself? Great song, and aeroplane. Wish I was able to say I'd flown them.
(The extra duty may have been imposed for imparting too much emphasis on the second line of the verse "..should I fly Phantoms, should I w*** cats..." as this was perhaps a hobby of said Sqn Ldr.) |
More a WAFU, style;) http://www.fleetairarm.com/product/t...book/1-31.aspx. Also this one

I always loved the: "Where are your Buccaneers?"...... "On the side of my Buccan'head!"

RAF Laarbruch - 1976/1977
RAF Laarbruch: every Friday Happy Hour - OM bar packed - XV Sqn vs 16 Sqn (Buccaneer) songs - endless free hot pasties.
On one occasion, OC (II) Sqn (Jaguar)'s Service Mini sitting on 4 coffee tables in the OM foyer - "Get that outside !" says the PMC (OC Admin ?). "OK Sir - will do" - Mini pushed - rather than carried - by drunken aircrew off coffee tables and down steps somewhat damaging the sub-frame. Great 1st tour memories are made of this ! |
I wonder if we could still get away with singing "The Flag"? Seem to remember that there was a time when XV were banned from singing it so 16 took every opportunity to go for it.
|
Of course, you could always get all the Buccaneer songs (and many more besides) here:

Bloggs,
A fine recommendation of a book written by a fine author who is definitely a 'Subject Matter Expert'! L |
Are you paying LOMCEVAK Bloggs?

When on XV we sang "The Flag" in the bar at TLP Jever. The krauts, oops, Luftwaffe loved it.
You will see LOMCEVAK, in the BAA Newsletter, the German F-4 guys followed that up with playing "stirring" music over the R/T during the gorilla. Lots of fun - but the USAF guys thought it was very un-PC and verging on inappropriate. Get a life FFS - it was back in 1982 when we could still get away with some antics! |
