Look Nutloose, what do you expect of jobbing pilots? We're not going for the Nobel Prize for Literature here - just by the book as planned and fire something at the charities.
This after a fairly "relaxed" Sunday lunch.

(And, yes, a it's a play on something or other)

Too:
in addition; also.
synonyms: also, as well, in addition, additionally, into the bargain, besides, furthermore, moreover, yet, on top of that, to boot; plus, again, over and above.

1. Any one of the above works fine for me.
2. I like a nice pun, too.

Just buy it, as a good book for a good cause.:ok:

Father Xmas kindly supplied the original book and has been asked for TOO too (thus making two books, volume one and too);)

Wander00 17th Nov 2014 09:14

Hmm, just tried to order the book but Ben Fund website wanted £25! to send it across the Channel. I have asked them to look again at overseas postal rates and I might order it.

That's better - Ben Fund have fixed a problem with overseas rates on the web site - now £4 for me - thanks

'One' was brilliant and so I have high hopes for 'Too'! 100% of proceeds going to all 3 Service Benefit Funds 'Too'.

Mine's in the post.

Dig deep, chaps, it's for a great cause and will make fabulous Christmas presents for all your family and friends.

Bloggs:D:D:D:D:ok:

I'm not trying to piss on anyone here, but I think some clarification might help.

The money that you pay for this book is not going to good causes, the profit from selling the book is going there.

A great Christmas present - for you and the charities!

The RAFBF Website states:

100% of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to military charities with 50% to the RAF Benevolent Fund and 50% divided between ABF and RNRMC equally.

This is like a re-run of the RIAT fundraising thread. Rough figures (very rough) for RIAT are 7.5 Million quid raised at the gate and sponsorship deals, and just 175,000 heads towards the charity, which gets watered down and ends up about 90,000 quid to good causes after the lawyers and bean counters have had their slices.

If anyone is interested, I'll get the most recent figures, but that's the ball park figure.

As for this book deal, I look forward to seeing how much the RAFBF actually get from sales of it.

The important point that I want to make, is that the idea expressed in the OP is not what's happening.

All the money goes directly to the military charities

Victor, that's great news for the RAFBF, maybe you could get them to clarify it on their website.

The suggestion that only the Profit is going to Charity leads more than just me to expect that some people are getting paid for their part in the production.

Air police,
A very good question - and I can tell you.
Because our sponsors paid for the printing, with £2500 of it coming from the RAFBF from funds raised from the first book, and because the publishers did their work for free, we are able to GIVE the book to the RAFBF. NO contributor or editor gets any money. EVERYTHING that you pay to the RAFBF on their website is retained by them and they share it with the Army and Navy Funds.
As for the first book - sadly we were not so canny, so when bought anywhere than from the RAFBF only £5 gets to the charities.
We are working to place OOTB2 on Amazon directly at a much better rate, but they have not yet recognised a charity as an entity that can sell it - they are used to companies, be they publisher or distributor.
Hope that clears things up
Check it out with the RAFBF - ask them directly

VictorSR,

Congratulations on achieving such a good deal for the military charities, and on your restrained response to the cynicism.
:D

Yes well done Victor might be a good Christmas pressie for me.

noprobs 21st Nov 2014 09:14

There's even more for your money this time, 368 pages rather than the 246 of volume 1. There are 100 stories from 59 contributors, and all for £9.99. It's going to be a quiet weekend around here.

Fg Off Bloggs 25th Nov 2014 15:54

As a contributor to both books, I can confirm everything said above by VictorSR. Indeed, I was pleasantly surprised when 'Too' popped through my letterbox at the sheer size of the volume and the number of stories therein. Some just one page and others longer but all very exciting/entertaining/enervating/exhilarating/extraordinary in their own way!

I am half-way through it and I can't wait to get to the end! It is unputdownable! Certainly an equal to Volume 1, which is still available from the RAFBF on-line shop.

Only regret is that the editors/compilers haven't left any stories for Volume 3, so it's back to the keyboard and on with another tale of derring do from days in the air with the RAF!

Get your money out and dig deep for the 3 charities, chaps. Especially you AirPolice - you Philistine! ;)!

BEagle 25th Nov 2014 16:38

Mine arrived last Saturday - at a quick look it's indeed going to be unputdownable! I'm halfway through something else at the moment, but am really looking forward to getting stuck in to it!

Vastly better than 'Vulcan Boys', for instance.....:hmm:

airpolice 25th Nov 2014 22:04

Bloggs, I ordered both of mine from the website on the 19th and expect them to arrive any day now.
