Eric Brown on Radio 4

Forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong forum, but I'm sure it will be of interest to the lads and lasses here that dwell here.

I'm I heard a snippet on the Chris Evans show this morning on Radio 2 about a forthcoming edition of Desert Island Discs on Radio 4 that will feature Eric Brown as the castaway. I'm sure it's this Sunday.

I have been unable to verify it as I'm currently at work with no access to a radio and the computer doesn't allow access to any form of entertainment such as BBC schedules or even news channels. It seems to have no problem with PPRuNe though!!!

Cheers,

Chris.

Confirmed for next week Fri 14th.

BBC Radio 4's long-running Desert Island Discs will feature a World War Two veteran for its 3,000th edition next week.
Former Royal Navy test pilot Eric "Winkle" Brown will appear on the show on Friday 14 November.
Brown, 95, is the Navy Fleet Air Arm's most decorated pilot and holds the record for the most flight deck landings.
He is also thought to have flown more types of aircraft than anyone else.
Presenter Kirsty Young, who has presented Desert Island Discs since 2006, described Brown as "the perfect castaway" to celebrate the 3,000th edition.
"Talking to him about his remarkable, dare-devil life was like touching history. A charming and twinkly man," she said.

"Charming and twinkly man" - that's how I recall him from the twice that I have met him. one of those people who touch you life briefly and you remember for ever. Thanks "Winkle".

Just heard a clip from the programme - he said he's just bought himself a sports car!

He's 92 :ok:

If you miss it on Friday it's repeated on Sunday morning at 1115 (and you can always catch it on the "listen again" feature).
