Great find Nutty :D

There are more here, I am surprised how basic the F117 cockpit is.

That's not basic, Nutty. For its time it's normal. BTW, the holes were filled with instruments when it was flying. :E :ok:

I love the prominent indicator in the SR-71 front cockpit marked "RSO EJECTED"
|
Comparing the Lightning cockpit with the others linked by NutLoose, my first impression is how staggeringly modern, uncluttered and efficient it looks.

The cockpit is that of a YF-117A full-scale development article - it's not representative of the operational F-117A's cockpit. The operational F-117 looked like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...6112700164.jpg |
Ahh that's better, I thought it couldn't be full of steam driven gauges..
Especially as something like the Cessna 172 comes fitted out like this these days http://executiveflyers.com/wp-conten...17LA_Panel.jpg Image from executive flyers. Com |

The B36 Flight Engineer's position in the National Museum looks like a collection of Wurlitzers.

"Flight Engineer's position" I think that should be "Flight Engineers' position" - apparently there were two of them. Not difficult to see why. |
