Comparing the Lightning cockpit with the others linked by NutLoose, my first impression is how staggeringly modern, uncluttered and efficient it looks.

The cockpit is that of a YF-117A full-scale development article - it's not representative of the operational F-117A's cockpit.

Ahh that's better, I thought it couldn't be full of steam driven gauges..

Especially as something like the Cessna 172 comes fitted out like this these days

I think that should be "Flight Engineers' position" - apparently there were two of them. Not difficult to see why.
