Iraq rebels 'seize nuclear materials'
40kg of uranium compounds. How long before we see a dirty bomb attack on a western city, London perhaps? Not long I'd wager. More depressing news from the religion of peace.

Look on the bright side, might be good for London house prices.

Iraq rebels 'seize nuclear materials'
That BBC article is propaganda at its finest. Love the mention of chemical weapons as well. It's like the government are dripping selected news stories until we have to go back in !
|
Stand by your beds when the BBC decides ISIS is responsible for climate change
|
Neither the UK nor US governments have any appetite for getting re-entangled in that particular net. Also, I thought the article rather played down the threat from both the low grade nuclear material and any left-overs at the disused chemical plant. Sarin has a notoriously short shelf life.

"seized nuclear materials used for scientific research at a university in the city of Mosul."
The same type used for research in UK and US universities ??? ;) |
500N, I'm sure they are the same type, or similar; the critical difference being that some are in the hands of British universities, and some are in the hands of Islamist lunatics. I am reassured that the consensus here seems to be that this is a non-issue. Let's hope ISIS just want to do some physics experiments and don't have any anti-social intentions.:ok:

Stand by your beds when the BBC decides ISIS is responsible for climate change Wonder how long before there is a name change or branding update!;) |
One hopes they have the lid off and are passing it around to let each other see it.
|
ISIS/L is now IS - Islamic State - do keep up!
|
We've recognised their statehood. That's lovely.
|
Nope: they've stated their statehood, which is all that matters to the ragheads; and the media no longer have to get bogged down over whether it's ISIS or ISIL, which was confusing the dumb punters and maybe they weren't paying attention during the ad breaks, which is all that matters to the media.

Stranger things have happened. Link below lists examples of untrained folks irradiating themselves.

One of them might be reading this. Don't tell them that a goodly dose of radiation could ruin their day!
|
Don't joke about it. Doramad toothpaste was sold to gullible Europeans in WWII on the basis that it contained radioactive thorium, which had excellent anti-bacterial properties and health benefits.

Every child should have one: http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/wp-...bertAtomic.jpg http://www.pprune.org/data:image/jpe...M/Kf1T+191B//Z |
Do uranium suppositories give you nuclear piles? (Shades of Tom Lehrer)

Courtney's pic of a kids atomic energy lab was tried out for real in the 90's.

David Hahn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Thats actually a sad story, he seemed to be very talented, should have had some serious coaching etc, afterwards. Might have made something out of himself. |
