The Passing of a legend.

While not a fan of Angelina Jolie, I'm grateful she recently made the movie Unbroken about his life.

Whilst not mention in the article, Torrance CA airport is named Zamperini Field after the great man and he was a regular there at events held on the airfield. The Robinson Corporation build all of their helicopters there.

Read the book Unbroken last year. A man of great endurance!

To survive a ditching in a B-24 in the Pacific, then 47 days in an open dinghy with only the food and water they could scavenge via luck and the elements of nature including many shark attacks. Then on reaching land, captured by the Japanese, tortured and practically starved for two years in various prison camps.

Quite an amazing man. RIP.

Looking forward to the film!

A good read and hope the movie is a true reflection of events without too much hollywoodism.

Hope not too much of a thread hi jack but relevant with the atrocities perpetuated on POW’s that quickly were “forgiven” in the late 40’s for the expediencies of economics, trade etc. Under the guise of getting Japan back on its feet with life sentences of culprits being nullified. Numerous tortures, killers released as early as 1947. Happy to be corrected on this.

Has much changed ?
