I would like to announce the passing of my father on 22nd April 2012.
He was the last light bomber pilot from WW2.He flew Douglas Boston lllA. He ws one of the pilots who laid smoke on D Day overthe Normandy beaches.
For those interested The Oxford Times, Oxford Mail and Independent carry tributes to him over this week. The independent on Thursday had a particularly good tribute.
His funeral will take place at Banbury Crematorium on Wednesday 7th May at 1pm.
Any donations will be handed to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
RIP Dad.

I saw this sad news on the BBC website and whilst I didn't know your father I would like to send my commiserations to you all and to thank him for what he did for his country and its allies.

My father Geoff Norton DFC CdeG (still alive) was good friends with your father in 88sqn. Apparently toward the end of the war because they both had excellent navigators they would take it in turns to lead the squadron on raids.
If you look at Page 2 of Boston Questions in this section you will see a photo and an article of a raid made by 88 sqn led by my father.
Strangely enough my father was born in Banbury, shame they never managed to meet up before your father died.

RIP to your father. Fantastic that he lived so long after WW2.

May I add my condolences and advise that, since he had been a member of the Aircrew Association, I have added his name to the ACA In Memoriam page at ACA In Memoriam
