Are you older than your Squadron number?
Random thought last night! What is the age of the oldest person who is older than his largest Squadron number? For example, for me I will have to pass 74 years old (74(F) Sqn). I have already passed 8 and 25, 56 next year (hopefully!) then it is the long haul to 74.
I reckon there may be some WW2 guys on 100 Sqn or 101 Sqn could beat that. As I said....just a thought! |
Is this another dig at the hole in the wall gang who will never get a member of the 'I am older than my squadron number club' ?
205th......errrrrrrr.....doubt that will ever happen Mate!
Well, that's the Fleet Air Arm buggered - again!
Jack |
I'll overtake mine in 2162!
Mind you, I knew some blokes on 1 squadron who behaved like 2 year olds ;) |
Aged my Squadron Around Puberty…..but just quietly, I never grew up.
You were on 19 Sqn? :p
Some would struggle to match their IQ scores against their Squadron number :p:p |
There are several Yodas on 660 and 705 at Shawbury who passed the relevant age a long time ago...
Telegram from King William V if I make it!
I had my 31st birthday whilst on 31 Squadron!:ok:
Are you older than your Squadron number?
I've already cracked 4, 6, 16 and 19 but I'm going to struggle to outlive my current Sqn. 419!
BV |
617 anyone....?
Do we include 1435 Flt? I'd love to think I'd last that long;)
Although, if I'd continued drinking at that pace, I don't think I'd have lasted another year |
Managed 30, working on 72 and 78. Not much chance of 230 though. :ok:
No chance. 322 Staffel Luftwaffe!
II Sqn, physically yes, mentally no.
Not much hope - 360 and 361
No chance for VGS mates either :{
29 Sqn - done.
43 Sqn - done. 63 Sqn - a way to go yet. 95th Ftr Sqn - a long way to go yet. 228 OCU - unlikely 229 OCU - even more unlikely. Ho hum. |
Just retired aged 55, matching one of the best Sqn's I had the privilege to be on.
GROUPs are easier!
110+ - but I'm not holding my breath !
I've beat my Sqns, 1,11,45 & 58 however I suspect 431MU will get the better of me :p
1, 4, 19 and 20 all done, but 208 is going to scupper my chances.... (unless we're not counting flying training)
How about adding up all the numbers?
Mine is 1873 (with tax relief at marginal rate ;) ) |
No's 1 and 2 Radio School and No 2 School of Tech Training were well beaten while still in Boys service, but 214 Sqdn is going to be a real challenge.
Well I've past 14, ache and puberty so don't want to go back there... I've past 20 but I wouldn't mind going back there :ok: 240 OCU no chance of reaching that, and my other one LSS didn't have a Squadron, we just loaned our aircraft to 10 Sqn :)
If you include ATC squadrons some of us are really gonna struggle, I was a cadet at 2427!
