Fish Strike?

I'm putting a bit of effort into the forum tonight guys. I have a few more asks, although i will make this one the last of the night, and i'll save a few more for another time, anyhow here goes...I have a good friend who was a Nav on Tornado's and he told me a legendary tale of a Tornado crew flying across a Loch some where north of the border, when a bird of prey was helping himself to a nice salmon, when the bird was rudely interupted by a Tornado and so the bird of prey dropped the fish and a million in one thing happend? the fish struck the canopy, and the board of enquiry was set up. It was concluded as a fish strike as any one heard of this tale.

Plausable. I have just missed a Golden Eagle in the glens, though it wasn't 'carrying'. The bird would presumably have been an osprey - seen them too.

I think a Jaguar was once hit on take of by a rabbit - from behind

Fox3WheresMyBanana 24th May 2013 22:31

Be fair - it was "no ordinary rabbit";)

Partially true, it was in fact a Hare and was a multiple strike, the other being the Tortoise. :ok:

Well a Jag WAS hit by a snake.

A sidewinder's a kind of snake, right?

WhiteOvies 25th May 2013 02:17

I heard tales of a flying fish strike on a low flying Sea Harrier, but it didn't happen while I worked on them. Never let the truth stand in the way of a good dit!:)

OK so does that make it a Kipper 3 call ?

I believe our Courtney had a hand (chinagraph) in this little "development" :D

Best ...

Coff.

Hope you don't mind Pontifex ... but the opportunity to use your photo was too great to miss :ok:

Our good friend Pontifex was in the Nimrod LH seat ...

Indeed, yes, Coff. Making the mighty hunter into a true multi-role platform! The only role that didn't work out for her was AEW, but that was no reason to cut her off in her prime.

Probably Kipper 2, though. :ok:

CoffmanStarter 25th May 2013 18:26

Sorry ... I'm slipping ... Yes AIM-9 :{

Lack of assistance from hare traffic control?

Heading home in our MR2 from a trip to Coningsby when ATC called to tell us we had hit a fox during takeoff... Fox 1?

NutLoose 25th May 2013 20:19

No doubt it was rapidly whisked off to the Airman's mess..

CoffmanStarter 25th May 2013 20:22

Nutty ... Fricassee of Fox ... suggest you post the recepie on the BBQ thread :E

Wensleydale 25th May 2013 20:24

Queue the "Wear the Fox Hat" gag.

muppetofthenorth 25th May 2013 20:44

Have heard tales of Buccaneers flying out of either Gib or Akrotiri encountering fish strikes while bouncing along over the Med.

Apocryphal?

CoffmanStarter 25th May 2013 20:47

Wensleydale ... You're on fire tonight ... what are you drinking ... I'll have a pint :ok:
