Iranians at it again: This time Stealth UAV!!

It seems the Iranian Air Force Arts Research & Crafts Establishment (IAFARCE)
are at it again.

Iran rolls out "stealth' unmanned aircraft - The DEW Line

The artillery shell 'missiles' and shopping trolley undercarriage are very clever design features!! :ugh:

parabellum 19th May 2013 10:32

Nice to see it is wearing the Burka too!

JFZ90 19th May 2013 10:46

the dialectric properties of that radome look similar to my washing up bowl.

Courtney Mil 19th May 2013 10:59

Stealthy? It must be the amazing stealth paint they've invented.

Buster Hyman 19th May 2013 11:35

Stealthy? It must be the amazing stealth paint they've invented.
Ahh, yes, but have you actually 'seen' one flying around? I haven't either so i think they're onto something...

NutLoose 19th May 2013 11:49

Blimey, I never saw that coming...

500N 19th May 2013 12:23

I actually did a double take and checked the article wasn't dated
April 1st.

Someone must have a very good sense of humour.

Laarbruch72 19th May 2013 12:25

That radome has come straight from the roof of a leisure boat. Why do they do this? I can understand the internal propaganda value but why invite international ridicule?

Stuff 19th May 2013 12:42

It's difficult to tell from the angle that the picture is taken but that seems to be a straight-wing design which makes the wing fence a bit unnecessary.

Perhaps it's some form of strengthening a bit like the tubigrip holding the wing box on?

Agaricus bisporus 19th May 2013 12:53

I wonder who is wasting their time building mock-ups like this and why whoever is paying for it thinks the money is well spent?

Its just like producing full-size Captain Scarlett toys and pretending they're real.
Its an expensive way to gather international ridicule.

Lets hope though that their nuclear industry is run on similar lines.

Utterly bizarre.

Heathrow Harry 19th May 2013 14:03

they're angling for jobs in Hollywood..........

Wander00 19th May 2013 15:16

Rumour has it this is the new mount for the Red Arr...............Oh, sorry, not the Caption Competition thread.......

I'll get my coat

Courtney Mil 19th May 2013 16:31

The voices in my head are saying, "Courtney, stay home today and polish your guns."

CoffmanStarter 19th May 2013 16:42

"It's a puppet" :hmm:

BOZR_DOUGIE 19th May 2013 16:47

Wow that Antenna on the bottom looks like some Tupperware suck to the bottom of the fuselage. I have done a degree in Avionics, all the research onto EM shielding and protection have been solved by Tupperware..

Any bets that this is just a dummy, and its not close to flying, like the claim that they reversed engineered that UAV that crashed last year oh sorry "hacked"

Also Rudder?

Courtney Mil 19th May 2013 17:03

Rudders are just for QFIs! But why no wiring from the 'hard point' to the fake 60 mm round that doesn't really fit into the canister. The fabric tapes that hold the wings on look solid enough, but they won't get their £1 back from the Morrisons shopping trolley. But, hey, if it does the job, why complain. Have they claimed that it has enough range to hit mainland USA yet?

ofc it's stealthy, it's all plastic...

CoffmanStarter 19th May 2013 17:18

It appears that the technology used for affixing the wings is well proven :E

http://www.icn.com.br/tasmod/new_fusca40_1.JPG

Courtney Mil 19th May 2013 17:32

Radar-transarent plastic that completely hides the metal components inside. Like the engine. F-35 is plastic, but you can still see it.

Of course, Coff's plane is plastic but has no engine, so probably is a stealth ac.:ok:

CoffmanStarter 19th May 2013 17:32

Technical update ... Mrs Coff reliably informs me that ray domes of that design can be purchased from Lakeland and have a secondary use as a suitable container to microwave rice :E

Courtney Mil 19th May 2013 17:37

Microwave? It's only a short step from there to gas barbecues!

500N 19th May 2013 17:38

Technical update ... 2

The bottom white piece looks like a Microwave plastic food cover,
well it's the same shape as the one next to my Microwave !

ihg 19th May 2013 17:39

ihg goes to the board and writes 10 times "I will never ever use irony on a forum without smileys". :E

I was more thinking of plastic as in Hasegawa plastic model kit than of CFRP...:)

BEagle 19th May 2013 18:16

Microwave? It's only a short step from there to gas barbecues!
Indeed! It's difficult to say which of those two devices is the worse.....

CoffmanStarter 19th May 2013 18:46

Not if you knock up said microwave from a surplus RAF WW2 magnetron :ok:

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...zH29cF2hqktxnA

So BEagle ... I take it the Vickers Fun Bus didn't have all mod cons in the galley then ... or did you just take a packed lunch :p

brokenlink 19th May 2013 18:50

The guy in the background is not a guard, just trying to find out who nicked his stainless steel thermos flasks to make the rocket launchers!

cargosales 19th May 2013 20:27

Unmanned? Yeah, right. If that's 'unmanned' then I'll eat my dinner jacket. Look, it's even got a little peephole at the front for the driver to see where he's going..

On a less savoury note, as it is manned, I think I've just sussed out the purpose of the tupperware underneath ..
'Jettison centreline ordnance' just took on a whole new meaning :ooh:

Buggah ... I thought I'd deleted all the pics of my ex Mother in Law. Where did you get hold of that one?

SASless 20th May 2013 02:02

Definitely a British thing....look at the state of those Teeth will ya?:E

Buster Hyman 20th May 2013 03:31

I imagine it would be less stealthy at take off. That shopping trolley wheel would squeak like buggery!

reynoldsno1 20th May 2013 04:21

That radome has come straight from the roof of a leisure boat
You might laugh, but many years ago SOAF fitted a yacht radar to a Skyvan, and the Seavan was born... it did not trigger ESM warnings on USN ships, and ISTR one commander was caught out and subsequently was relieved of his command.....

Cows getting bigger 20th May 2013 07:13

Did someone say that Captain Scarlet was a work of fiction? :{

27mm 20th May 2013 07:22

IAFARCE - says it all, really.......:\

CoffmanStarter 20th May 2013 07:30

Should have gone to Nitroplanes ... $150 all in for a kit :}

FARS Newsagency...you couldn't make it up could you?

Loving the take off & landing. I guess its hard to see the centreline from deep in a concrete bunker.

Hydraulic Palm Tree 21st May 2013 03:14

Radome

Nah, its one of these
