The location is presumably Cuatro Vientos airfield.

According to the ABC.es news site, the pilot has died after suffering serious burns.

From what I could see from a hundred metres away, it was pretty sudden.
I can't imagine that the poor pilot felt anything.

Just curious - where is all the outrage against the OP:confused:.

Two videos of two fatal accidents have been posted recently (with this one posted (it might appear) within minutes of it happening). One causes almost instant outrage, one doesn't.......

Strange old world.

I was at C-V a few months ago. Saw the accident a/c and many other lovely vintage aircraft (mostly a/worthy).

It looks to me like the Saeta hit very near to its own hangar. There's going to be serious damage done to the airport infrastructure and other a/c in this accident. Very fortunate no-one in the hangars was killed.

In that second video, the Saeta pilot didn't really look to be pulling.

Maybe just looks that way though, or could pilot incap be an issue?

At Menorca flying club I have seen much macho bravado over the years.

One member bought a Chrokee Arrow and did a very low pass over the club house and pulled hard, the resultant accelerated stall saw him depart very rapidly into the scenery.

Didn't look to be properly under control for reasons not apparent.

Judging by the aircraft that flew before this one, it appears to have rolled off the display axis altogether, as well as not being pitched enough early enough.

Absolutely tragic, especially for those unconnected with the display.

Those people weren't at the display. There are other videos on the web showing it from the crowd's perspective. I don't think any could/should criticise the poor guy for his display axis.
The other videos show the aircraft developing a very high rate of descent which becomes apparent that the aircraft isn't going to recover from at about 500ish feet or so.

I suspect the "display axis" might be part of the problem. The aircraft looks to be performing a shallow "wing over" towards the crowd with fairly low energy. It appears to me that in an attempt to keep the turn tight, he uses almost 90 degrees of bank and the nose slices down. I suspect he was at the buffet from half way around the turn and the crash was going to happen unless he had rolled off the bank and flown an escape before the nose was lowered (or dropped).

It's not evident on that second clip, but C-V has a big drop off behind where he piled in.

If he was struggling to bring it round that turn, he could easily have rolled off the bank and descended even below airfield elevation if required. That would have taken him away from the field safely.

At first I thought 'why is he here?', but I think they must use a display line about 40 degrees off the runway c/l. He still must have been in some danger of overflying the crowd and maybe was hauling it around to avoid this.

Looks like he hit the Police Chopper hangar. It's right next to the museums hangar and resto shop.

Edit to add: That RATA that flew before him was very near the crowd and certainly flying towards it- when you first see the Saeta in the second clip, he circles right where the crowd are.
I suspect flying discipline 'may' be an issue here. I hope not though....
