XV744 Transatlantic Air Race Harrier moved to Tangmere
About 22.00 minutes in on BBC South Today on iPlayer. Link
I can remember the original news item - the take-off at St Pancras was from an old coal yard :D |
I have a very nice large framed publicity photo of the Harrier in the hover with station in background courtesy of the father in law when we both worked at HSA/BAe. Also similar one of Sea Harriers in original grey paint scheme.

Having seen it at Shrivenham recently it looked a real mess. Nothing that a good jetwash and some TLC would not sort out. Good Luck to them. It was however the aircraft that got beaten by the Navy F4 on the return leg of the transatlantic race not XV741 that is associated with the coal yard pictures.

XV744 still had coal dust deep in its hidden crevices for all its subsequent life ISTR.
