Anyone know how long it currently takes from pulling the handle? Also, to speed up the process, could it be argued that changes in pensions/pay are a contract breach?

12 months I think.

Attempts to beat the system rarely, if ever, work. Trying to fight the sort of thing you're suggesting will almost certainly take MUCH longer than 12 months.

Give em a months notice if you are serious. Let them contest it. With the cut in fp on pvr and pensions changes coming into effect in 2015 I can't see how they could keep you in if you state you don't accept the changes to your tos.

Is it still 6 month so for the over 50s?

If you are over 50 you can leave in 6 months no matter which Branch/Trade you are in.

Where is the Over 50's 6 month rule written down?

The rule is over 50 or 30 years service. Usual 'can be declined in exceptional circumstances' applies.

I'd expect to be held to 12 months. Unless, of course, you are in a position to 'do a deal' with the deskie.

Have a look at your contract; oh yeah, thats right, we haven't got one....

I know it is an obvious point but an early call to your desk officer is probbaly the best way forward. Couched carefully the 'what would be the art of the possible if' should give you the best indication and should be treated confidentially by your desk officer.
