When the Lightning OCU lodged at Marham for 6 months I had the good fortune to get a trip in a T4. My illusions about steely-eyed fighter pilots were shattered when the youngish pilot produced a pair of specs when he was doing the pre takeoff checks and put them on.

As I remember both Adolf Galland and Jeffrey Quill were involved in the development of Tornado and Quill finally retired after blacking out during a Tornado test flight.

Does Cliff Spink not still fly very demanding big piston fighters at over 60 years of age?

Stepped out of a Jaguar for the last time in '99 aged 55. Neck was a bit knackered by then. I know, I know - always looking behind me!!
