Serbian military crash
I'm not sure if this has hit the mainstream media yet, I got it through amateur radio channels
B92 - News - Pilot dies as military plane crashes into residential area One wonders about the following: 1) Why would a major and a lt. col be training together in a V-54? 2) Does it even have an ejector seat? I hardly think so, 3) Surely a lt trainer could be safely glided to a field? |
2) Does it even have an ejector seat? I hardly think so, One pilot ejected, while the other made an effort until the last moment (before ejecting) not to hit a house in this residential area. |
I know it did, that is why I made the comment. Then I found this:
Lasta 95 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The question is, do you believe the press or wikipedia: Looking at the pic of the plane, there is no way it could carry the weight of an ejector seat! |
I think you should read 'ejecting' as 'jumping out'.

The question is, do you believe the press or wikipedia In this instance though you are quite correct - the Lasta currently in service does not have an ejector seat, although the Kobac turboprop version which is set to fly next year will have the Martin-Baker Mk 17 seat. |
Interesting that the development of this aircraft was stalled for 21 years due to the break up of Yugoslavia and the NATO-Yugoslavia air campaign.
Incidentally, there has been a short discussion already at http://www.pprune.org/military-aircr...ml#post7434893 |
The question is, do you believe the press or wikipedia: |
Where do you think Wiki gets most of its information from? |
