upcoming UAV pilot interview

Hi guys,

I have an upcoming interview for the position of a UAV pilot. I've only flown GA aircraft, no experience whatsoever with UAVs. Any ideas about what I could be asked?

Thanks in advance.

Will you actually be in the same room as the interviewers, or in a small box hundreds of miles away? ;)

aa, like me, they have absolutely no idea. Good luck.

actually a good question

I assume mil pilots already combat experienced will be hired.

Will the interview be down the line, to simulate reality of the role tasked.

Would FS experience count...... I can not fly a FS aircraft to save my live but manage not to kill real passengers every day.

OP was from Pakistan......any relevance..

I think they are targeting countries that do not have child labour laws. My 11 year old nephew can kick my ass @ carrier landings on MSFS. I can do the dailight tutorial with about a 50% sucess rate, kid can snag a wire every time during IFR night landings.

In the UAV world GA = General Atomics, so you might sound perfectly qualified in "I've only flown GA aircraft"!!!:p

What do you understand by the phrases:

...left a bit ...Up...right - a bit more...?

a 20 year old from Karachi interviewing to fly a UAV?

What drones do the Pakistanis have? Are they hoping to steal a few from the USA (like the Iranians claim they did) only this time they'll manage to land it properly...

thank you to everyone for replying,

I do have experience working on fixed base simulators, gaining faa approval and setting up a device (under supervision ofcourse) in Florida, so perhaps that factored into the decision for the interview.

@Leon Jabachjabicz, thank you

@Milo Minderbinder, thank you :) strange I didnt encounter this type of islamophobic behavior ever in the United States, but here on the internet..wow just wait to say youre paki! thanks :) i hope it makes you feel big :ok:

Bit late for London 2012 :E

Milo Minderbinder 9th Sep 2012 20:26

he means my post #10

And I'll repeat the point
His details say he's aged 20 and he's in Pakistan
Realistically what UAV is he going to be flying?
Do Pakistan have any UAVs?

Brainfart 10th Sep 2012 09:42

All you guys had to do was google. The Pakistan airforce currently have and operate 75 UAV'S and Pakistan itself in fact develop their own UAV'S. See: NESCOM Burraq - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and SATUMA Jasoos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bit late in replying to this, but I remember a couple of years back, hearing of a few PPLs who became drone jockeys.

With the proper training, I suppose it's not beyond the realms of reality.

AA747 - perhaps you might like to explain exactly what was Islamophobic about Milo's response.
