Perhaps the threads should be merged? Still an excellent view of life in the days when we had an air force worthy of the title. |
The RAF of my yoof; get me the forms & I'll sign on again........

As I might have stated previously on the other thread. I was the number 2 navigator in the Buccs at Wittering - what a week!
Rehearsals and nights in the OM Bar with Raymond Baxter, who was intent on spending his total annual BBC Ents Allowance, were a hoot! Those definitely were THE DAYS! Foldie:D |
Baxter was quite a character - flew Hurricanes & Spitfires in WW2 and was flew on the raid on the Gestapo HQ in the Hague
several Mentions I believe |
Epic footage...I would join again in a shot ;)

Apologies to TEEEJ - I obviously hadn't seen his.

Ah dear Raymond
He came to visit us and gave us a Signed print to 19 squadron of him sat in the back of a Harrier T2 with John Farley
The Boss said thank you - shame you didn't do your flies up Raymond - red faced Raymond looked closely at piccy with him sat almost tackle out in the T2! |
Remember it well. We hosted a lot of the visiting aircraft on 233 OCU's pan and with typical liney "humour" we christened it Doomwatch after the popular sci-fi TV series of the time.
