Nice to see Northolt back on the front line. Mum still lives 2nm on extended centreline.

I saw this too over the Herts area, and did wonder where it was off too, thanks for the update.

An RAF fighter jet tasked with defending the Olympics against terror attacks was scrambled on Friday after an aircraft lost contact with aviation authorities, the Ministry of Defence said.

The Typhoon was sent to intercept the aircraft after air traffic controllers lost contact shortly before 4.45pm.

But the jet was able to return to its base at RAF Northolt, west London, shortly after taking off when communication was re-established with the pilot.

More at RAF scramble jet for Games security . It seems that the Aussies are able to report this, whereas our journos are content just to slaver over the Sports Day results.....:bored:

Possibly because it was a non story, eh Beags?

TEEEJ 4th Aug 2012 12:35

It was reported in a timely fashion via the UK Press Association. Yesterday it was reported on-line by the Guardian and Express. The Press Association release went round all the regional papers.

From yesterday.

It's a kind of comfort factor having these Aeroplanes and Helicopters based here at London's Northolt airport. On the approach to the area there are temporary signs in the centre of the dual carriageway sayin "BEWARE OF EXCESSIVE AIRCAFT NOISE".
After the stupidity that was Liam Fox, I do hope that this government of cretins will come out with a sensible decision to keep them at Northolt after the Olympics finish and have them there 24/7/12/365.
It would be such a popular posting /detachment and for everyone living in the area I'm sure it would be such a popular decision. But Camerons crowd don't seem to do anything sensible or logical.

Hello hello can you hear me now? Yes... Ahh good, I can then relay the following message from the CAA... Can you please pop your licence into a jiffy bag and post it to The CAA Gatwick.

:p

Can anyone confirm for all the nut cases round the globe, that once the Olympics are over our capital city will once again be defenceless and a sitting duck?

Laarbruch72 7th Aug 2012 11:14

Better still, shall we let the nut cases find their own information on defence policy? I know they'll probably find it eventually but it doesn't mean we should make their lives easier.
